From the mid-2010s onward, data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence sparked a radical transformation in the visual arts. A pioneer of this 'Generative AI Revolution' is the Turkish-American media artist Refik Anadol. Replacing the traditional canvas and marble with digital screens, projection mapping, and database archives, Anadol introduced the concepts of 'data painting' and 'data sculpture' to the art world. By training artificial neural networks (specifically GANs) on billions of data points—ranging from climate records and brain activity to municipal archives and museum collections—he created fluid, constantly shifting, hypnotic visual forms.

This artistic path, which gained early prominence with *Archive Dreaming* at SALT Galata in 2017, reached a global milestone with *Unsupervised*, exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York in 2022–2023. Anadol trained a machine learning model on MoMA's vast digital collection archive spanning over 200 years, allowing the AI to 'dream' of the museum's history. The monumental screen in the lobby altered its visuals in real-time, responding to changes in light, acoustics, and visitor movement, ensuring a fluid stream that never repeated itself.

AI art challenges the traditional notion of the artist's solitary creative authority, shifting the creative process into a collaborative partnership between human intent and machine algorithms. Raw data and code become dynamic pigments painted in light. Similar to the impact of photography's invention in the 19th century, AI art is redefining the borders of creativity and aesthetic experience in the 21st century.

Produced by Anadol's Los Angeles-based studio, these works stand as monumental sculptures of machine consciousness and digital memory, outlining the future of contemporary art.
